Last week Adel turned 13 and he was inching above his Mom as of leaving primary school. Before his 15 birthday, he will be taller than his Dad - as all his uncles on both sides of his parents are nearly six footers. Among the many college regulations would be not allowing mobile phones or expensive digital and electronic devices in students possession. This is to ensure minimal distraction for boys with some overly concerned parents intruding into residential activities and to avoid excessive display of luxury accessories with those from wealthy families.

In the last week of preparation, Mom went overdrive with two boys in tow running errands of getting white shirts and long pants, under garments, sport shorts and shirts, Malay attire - baju Melayu in white as well, shoes, sandals, pail, hangers, stationeries and pharmaceutical items to ensure her first child be well prepared of any eventualities.

The last night before sending him off, Mom got all the forms, credentials, health certificates, etc. all in order with exact copies be made as requested. Adel duly signed whatever he was supposed to sign blindly to get the paperwork out of the way.
